The Beginnings of

The Hacienda

Located in an area of more than 300 hectares in the province of Chiriqui, Hacienda Don Ricardo is the result of a dream that transcends generations.

Its name is a tribute to Don Ricardo Pérez García, father of Mr. Ricardo "Dicky" Pérez who is the founder of this hacienda, whose creation was inspired by the desire to share with his family the beauty of rural life and relive the joys of his childhood: horseback riding, river trips and adventures in nature. The Perez family has dedicated their effort and passion to turn the farm into a place where they connect with Panamanian traditions and family life.

Passion and Commitment:

In 2000, Hacienda Don Ricardo took its first steps in the breeding of Purebred Spanish Horses (PRE) by importing selected horses from the best stud farms in Costa Rica. These noble and beautiful animals became an integral part of our vision, destined to enrich the experience of our visitors and bring pride to our own breeding. Committed to the highest standards, we rigorously comply with the regulations of the Royal Purebred Spanish Horse Breeders’ Association (ANCCE), ensuring the excellence of our breeding and the satisfaction of those who choose us.

Over the years, our passion for equine breeding has flourished, leading us to diversify and strengthen the breeds in our herd, including ponies, Iberians and Aztecs. Simultaneously, our love for rural life and its richness inspired us to invest in the acquisition of new areas for the breeding of high genetics cattle. Over the past two decades, we have continually expanded our operations, seeking to be a benchmark in the breeding of highly genetic cattle with exceptional performance.

Our influence is not limited to horse and cattle breeding. For more than 15 years, our mother farm in Bágala has been a point of reference in the locality due to its harvest of Suazi and Alicia grass bales, recognized for their quality. We have transformed what started as a farm into a solid corporation, always looking for new opportunities and markets in which to innovate. Through the integration of advanced technologies, we seek to lead the agro-industrial vanguard. All this is possible thanks to the unwavering commitment of the Perez family and a team dedicated to providing the best products for local and national consumption.

This extensive farm is not only a haven for nature and horse lovers, but also an engine of economic development in the region. We generate employment that benefits more than 70 families in Chiriqui and contribute to the sustainable growth of the local community, maintaining a strong commitment to the development of the province.

Hacienda Don Ricardo stands out for its dedication to the breeding of high genetic quality cattle, housing world-class animals and producing top quality agricultural food that satisfies local demands and extends to other markets. In addition, we maintain responsible farming and ranching practices that preserve the natural environment and promote long-term sustainability.

Opening Our

Doors to the World

As of 2023, we have taken an important step by opening our doors to the general public. What began as a private family corner has become a welcoming place that has opened its doors to the public so that people from all over the world have the opportunity to learn a little more about the culture, experiences and customs of our family and rural Panamanian life.

We are proud to share our legacy of tradition, strength and nobility with our visitors, inviting them to be part of this agrotourism experience where they can experience firsthand life in the countryside and interact with our equines.
